Southern Africa 2005
We, Samuel (27) and Benjamin (24) Roth of Switzerland travelled
Southern Africa including South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia,
Botswana and Namibia from March to July 2005. The vehicle was a
Ford Courier 4x4 2500 TDI hired from Afrika Safaris. In total we
drove 14, 639 km on the round trip starting and ending in Namaqualand.
Travelling on all kind of roads, the vehicle didn't give any trouble
and with servicing the car every 5000 km an excellent service was
provided. The engine is extremely strong and with ten different
4x4 gears the bakkie leads you through almost every terrain you
can imagine.
The bakkie was equipped with a rooftop tent, one fridge and one
deep freezer (electricity was provided from an extra battery and
a battery charger), one spare wheel and two extra spare tyres and
all kind of camping equipment. It was a trip of a lifetime and we'll
do something similar again, for sure!
Travelling Africa is an experience that you'll never forget and
we recommend it to everyone who is looking for adventure, to everyone
that is a nature-loving person and loves to be outdoors and to everyone
that just wants to see something really different. And Africa is
different!
We have created an online journal - unluckily in German only and
we have also included quite a lot of photos. Check it out at
http://www.blogall.de/kalachee. For some personal info on the vehicle, the route or general African
info, you are welcome to contact me at: samuel.roth@mysunrise.ch
See you in Africa!
