...experiencing Africa's horizons

Hiring equipment

The tourism market is quite volatile. At times we experience a shortage of equipment to handle our own safaris and at other times, our equipment stands idle for months. In order to utilize the equipment more fully and thus to offer more competitive prices, we started a hiring division in our operation. It basically means that you can now hire the very same equipment and vehicles that we use in our own safaris. And we can offer it at much better prices than the market average.

We, Samuel (27) and Benjamin (24) Roth of Switzerland travelled Southern Africa including South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia from March to July 2005. The vehicle was a Ford Courier 4x4 2500 TDI hired from Afrika Safaris. In total we drove
14, 639 km on the round trip starting and ending in Namaqualand.<more>

Here is the deal; we have complete tented camps, safari vehicles, off-road trailers etc available at certain times. This is our own equipment and it is in excellent condition and properly maintained. If and when these are standing idle, you can hire them at the absolute best prices on the market.

Available are:
1: Double Cab 4x4 bakkies complete with rooftop tents, bedding, freezer, cooler, plastic crates and all the necessary camping equipment. You can also hire the bakkie without all the camping equipment. Usually this means a bakkie with trellises.
The bakkies comes standard with air-conditioning, CD-player, central locking, power-steering and mostly have diesel engines. They can do on average 600 km before refuelling.

2: Camping trailers. They came standard with a fold-out table, camping chairs, gas cylinders, plastic crates and all the odds and ends that make up a complete camping trailer.

3: Transport trailers. These are off-road trailers to handle extra load - up to 1000 kg.

4: Tents of all sizes and shapes.
5: Generators - 220V anything between 500 w and 3,500 w.
6: Deep freezers, coolers and cool boxes. Ranging from 200 lit to 40 lit.
7: Camping chairs and tables

You speak to us and tell us what you need, what you want to do and where you want to go. We'll do the rest. And this at the best prices on the market

Southern Africa 2005

We, Samuel (27) and Benjamin (24) Roth of Switzerland travelled Southern Africa including South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia from March to July 2005. The vehicle was a Ford Courier 4x4 2500 TDI hired from Afrika Safaris. In total we drove 14, 639 km on the round trip starting and ending in Namaqualand.

Travelling on all kind of roads, the vehicle didn't give any trouble and with servicing the car every 5000 km an excellent service was provided. The engine is extremely strong and with ten different 4x4 gears the bakkie leads you through almost every terrain you can imagine.

The bakkie was equipped with a rooftop tent, one fridge and one deep freezer (electricity was provided from an extra battery and a battery charger), one spare wheel and two extra spare tyres and all kind of camping equipment. It was a trip of a lifetime and we'll do something similar again, for sure!

Travelling Africa is an experience that you'll never forget and we recommend it to everyone who is looking for adventure, to everyone that is a nature-loving person and loves to be outdoors and to everyone that just wants to see something really different. And Africa is different!

We have created an online journal - unluckily in German only and we have also included quite a lot of photos. Check it out at http://www.blogall.de/kalachee. For some personal info on the vehicle, the route or general African info, you are welcome to contact me at: samuel.roth@mysunrise.ch

See you in Africa!
Samuel
