...experiencing Africa's horizons

Namibia Introduction - Damaraland

A very exciting safari into the undeveloped area of Damaraland - part of the Kunene Province of Namibia. We concentrate on an area known for spectacular scenery which is part of the Namib Desert.

Itinerary

Day 1: We meet you at Hosea Kutako International airport just outside Windhoek. We do a tour of the city of Windhoek and have something to eat. By 15:00h we hit the "Great North Road" into Africa.  Near the town of Outjo we make our camp for your very first experience of a campfire in the African bushveld.  420 km

Day 2: After a leisurely breakfast, we pack and depart on our expedition into the great Namib Desert. At the town of Kamandjab, we leave the tarred road and drive all the way to the top of the Grootberg Mountains from where you have spectacular views over the desert. A short way futher and we are at our campsite which we should reach not later than 17:00h. Now it is time to relax in the pool, enjoy a game drive or walk or just have a sundowner at the local pub. 300 km

Day 3: A late breakfast and we are on our way over the Bergsig mountains and into the Huab River Valley. We slowly make our way to any of the campsites in the vicinity of the World Heritage Site at Twyfelfontein. 200 km

Day 4: We now hit the road hard and try to reach the town of Uis by lunch. It is not uncommon to see desert elephant on the way. From Uis we drive over the "White Namib" all the way to Hentiesbaai and then down the "Salt Highway" to Swakopmund. Here we make our camp. Swakopmund is one of the most "German" towns outside of Germany and a real tourist gem surrounded by the cold Atlantic Ocean and the Namib Desert. 340 km. Supper will be in a restaurant.

Day 5: A day to relax or do as you please. You can visit the many amazing sites in the town, do shopping, go fishing or take a quad-bike into the sand dunes surrounding Swakopmund. These activities are for your own account as well as lunch. Supper is at our campsite.

Day 6: After a early lunch we packup and depart in the direction of Windhoek. On the Eastern edge of the Namib is the magnificent Spitkoppen Mountains. Here we make our last camp in time for you to climb any of the surrounding mountains for a last sundown over the Namib Desert. 150 km

Day 7: A leisurely breakfast and we are on our way again. We should be in Windhoek no later than 13:00h in time for you to catch you flight back "home". We trust by now your rooftop tent has become you new home and that you will be back for more of the real life!  290 km

Naturally this will increase the total price but not with much seeing the fact that all travelling costs has been covered already.

This is an economy type safari and it is expected of the guests to help with the pitching of the tents, the making of beds and some cooking and cleaning. We use I tour guide to 3 guests. Prices are in South African Rand but can be paid in any accepted currency, according to the existing exchange rate.
